Unarmed Man gets killed by Police

Authorities investigated Sunday after police shot 23-year-old John Paul Quintero, who allegedly threatened to kill people inside a home in Wichita, according to The Associated Press.

The shooting occurred Saturday night after police received a call that said Quintero was attempting to get inside the house and was potentially armed with a knife. When authorities arrived at the scene, Quintero and his 44-year-old unidentified father were inside a parked SUV outside the house that allegedly made the call.

The officers asked the two individuals to exit the vehicle and show their hands. The father allegedly complied, but John threatened the officers verbally while reaching for his waistband. One of the officers shot Quintero in the midsection twice, according to a statement from police officials.

John succumbed to his injuries early Sunday at a hospital in Wichita. Quintero had reportedly gotten into a kerfuffle with the homeowner, threatened to kill people within the house, and allegedly had a knife at the throat of a 21-year-old female before the shooting incident.
